What is Your Answer?

Rob

You are listening to a friend tell stories about their mission trip and you get so excited you can’t stand it.  You see pictures on the news about the poor in some third world country and the urge to go serve nudges at you for days.  Your pastor is speaking about missions and you feel he is speaking directly to you.  Why is it that so many of us get these feelings but so few obey the gentle call from God?  Why do our thoughts move so quickly away from what we feel God is asking to thoughts of why we cannot do what He is asking?   In the tough economy of today we will assume that we cannot get the funds needed to go.  Other thoughts of time off from work, food in a third world country, shots, and many others flood our minds and move the focus from Him to us.  We convince ourselves that we cannot possibly do this, it will not work, and so we push this call to the back of our minds until another time in life when we feel it will work.

The reality of life is that God can and God will if you will place your trust in Him and not yourself.  In the years I have worked sending teams to Africa I have seen God do amazing things with the impossible.  I have seen families who have no job go to Kenya fully funded, youth groups of 30 kids raise funds for trips that no one thought they could raise and have seen God provide for over 700 to go to Kenya this year with full funding in this tough economy.  God can and does the miraculous.

God’s hands are big and He will provide if He asked you to go on a trip. If you look through your own eyes you may never go.  Keep your eyes focused on Him and let Him make the way for you.  He will provide and calm your fears and do an incredible work in you along the way.  What is your answer going to be when He calls?
