Mutirithia Community Updates: Business and Beyond

We are thankful for the generosity you have shown towards the Mutirithia community over the last few months. We are amazed by the dedication of the Mutirithia Leadership Council, the church pastors, and 410 Bridge staff who have continued to work diligently throughout this difficult season.

At the end fo 2020, BST beneficiaries in Mutirithia had the opportunity to participate in an online mentorship program. Not only were trainees able to talk about their businesses, they were able to pray and read the Word of God together. We are so grateful for the staff members and participants that made this mentorship program possible!

The BST beneficiaries in Mutirithia formed a group that consists of individuals who run personal businesses. Each member contributed funds that were used to open a joint bank account. From this account, they are facilitating a savings group that each member will contribute to biweekly. With time, the collected money will be used to issue loans to group members and trusted members of the community.

Please continue to keep the community of Mutirithia in your prayers. Schools have re-opened and students and teachers are working diligently to try and get back into a new rhythm. Community prayer requests include:

  • Discernment for leaders as they make decisions that impact the entire community
  • Provision for people who are suffering
  • Safety from the COVID-19 virus

In 2021, Chris reached out just to have a conversation. Over a few breakfasts, Chris and I discussed our shared passion for changing the way the West church engages the poor. At the time, Chris was working for another non-profit organization, but it quickly became clear that we both sought to create a lasting, meaningful impact on the lives of the poor.

As we begin this exciting journey as an organization, I want to share more about who I am, my heart for our mission, and where we are headed this year.
