Meet Andrew Guuru, Kenya Country Director

His full name is actually Silvester Andrew Muiruri Guuru…  What the video doesn’t tell you is that Andrew was our 2nd employee in Kenya.  He started as a part-time employee responsible for Kwambekenya and Karogoto.  It didn’t take us long to see that Andrew understood our development model and was passionate about empowering people.  His international project management experience and HIV/Aids work in Malawi has served him well.

Andrew quickly asked for more and more responsibility.  In 2008 he was promoted to Sr. Community Development Manager, responsible for all of our communities north of Nairobi.  Early this year, it became clear that our growth required a full-time Country Director.  We interviewed several candidates, including Country Directors of other organizations in East Africa.  Andrew was the clear choice and in April we promoted him to Kenya Country Director.

Andrew is responsible for all aspects of The 410 Bridge’s presence in Kenya.  11 communities today…  growing to 20+ communities by the end of 2010…  30+ employees…  75 development projects under management…  1,000 short-term mission trip participants next year…  It’s a big job.

So enjoy the video of Andrew and meet him and his wife.  We are blessed to have him lead our efforts in Kenya and excited about what the future hold with him at the helm.
