Jennifer4This was my very first mission trip, and no matter how many questions I asked and how much I planned there was no way I could have ever fully prepared myself for this life changing adventure. It was amazing to be able to see how God started to work in my life and prepare my heart the second I decided to apply for the trip.

The travel to Ndibai was extremely long, but the welcome made it all worth it. We arrived in the community of Ndibai on Saturday where we were welcomed by children flooding the roads with so much excitement, grabbing our hands and walking us to a Welcome Ceremony where we were greeted by the entire community with prepared speeches, dancing and singing…it was a wonderful start to an incredible week!

Our group was large-35 people-but we became an instant family. Throughout the week we were split up into smaller groups where we attended church with the Kenyans, assisted in a number of projects around the community, lead classes at the primary schools and did home visits where we learned about Kenyan culture and traditions- one of my favorite days!

Regardless of all the work though, the majority of our time was spent bonding, singing & dancing, playing and forming lasting relationships with the community of Ndibai. This community is so full of joy, love and faith it’s impossible not to fall in love with them!! One of the biggest rewards of this trip was meeting Diana, the little girl I sponsor. Diana is the sweetest little girl with an amazing smile. I loved bonding with her and cannot wait to watch her grow in her faith & education over the years.

This trip was filled with so many other moments that I will never forget, new friendships that I will cherish forever and a love for Jesus that is stronger than before.  I am forever grateful for all of my friends & family that helped sponsor me on this life altering trip where I served others, built incredible relationships and grew my faith, I cannot wait to return to Ndibai in the future to help them continue on their journey as a community to create life lasting changes around the community.
