Cinderella in Segera

Here is a story from a recent trip participant, Jan Walker. She participated in the Segera Mission Trip with NewSpring Church in May of this year.

Cinderella

My first full day in Kenya was spent serving at the Segera Mission. Our team was there to hang out and play games with the local children. As we arrived I happened to notice one little girl in particular. She was wearing a tattered, dusty Cinderella dress with multiple tears and holes in it. I was angry at the irony of this scene – a girl who literally had nothing was wearing a princess dress. But immediately God pressed on my heart, “But she is a princess! She is a child of the King!”

“…we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:16-18.

We may view the situation in Kenya as hopeless and desperate, but God doesn’t.
