Building Community: My Journey with a Savings Group

Meet Manacesi

Manacesi Lopez Garcia de Herrera, a 34-year-old resident of Rancho Viejo, Guatemala recently shared her story with one of our team members.

She is the mother of three children – Kimberly, 17 years old, Ashly, 12 years old, and Dilmar, five years old. Her love for them serves as the driving force in her life.

She recently became a member of 410 Bridge’s Savings Group Program along with other women in her community.

A Deeper Understanding

She shared that through her participation in the Savings Group Program, she has gained a deeper understanding of the Bible along with better insights into the needs of her fellow Savings Group members.

It has also taught her organizational skills, coordination, collaboration, and a commitment to serving the community.

Manacesi appreciates the discipline instilled through the group, helping her save and motivating her to continue expanding her jewelry and ice cream business. She emphasized the importance of aligning her actions with God’s guidance and recognized Him as the seed without whom nothing would be possible.

Manacesi envisions the savings group’s enduring impact, believing its methodology is user-friendly and applicable to various personal and community activities.

The Next Generation

She expressed a desire for the youth in her community to embrace this empowering methodology to strengthen their values and skills, contributing to both personal and communal development.

The transformative journey with the savings group has heightened Manacesi’s awareness, particularly in matters of faith and family values.

She finds joy in sharing her learnings with her family, understanding the influential role she plays in shaping her children’s perspectives.

Manacesi aspires to instill positive values rooted in Jesus, paving the way for her children to become sources of inspiration and contributors to the well-being of their community.

Finding Support

Beyond its role as a savings group, Manacesi shared that she sees the group as a family, a place where members can de-stress, have fun, reflect on Bible passages, and openly discuss their problems.

The trust within the group fosters emotional support and problem-solving. The cultivation of good values contributes to stronger relationships among members, with positive impacts on self, family, and community.

Manacesi thanked our team for providing the program and how it’s created a safe space for personal growth and learning, contributing significantly to her overall well-being and that of her family.

Thank You

We, our team, would like to thank all of our supporters for their continued and generous gifts towards 410 Bridge that allows for programs such as the Savings Group program to continue!

We are so excited to continue to hear stories like Manacesi’s from around the world. Gracias!

New Year: Next Level Ministry

A New Year frequently evokes a multitude of emotions, deeply influenced by various reasons based on the season of life one is at. For many, it symbolizes a rejuvenating fresh start—a precious opportunity to release the burdens of the past and embrace the future brimming with hope. This transition evokes excitement, particularly for school-age children returning to the classroom after a long break from school in November and December here in Kenya. While children are thrilled to reunite with their classmates and dive back into the classroom environment, they may also grapple with a sense of déjà vu; the inevitability of returning to homework, assignments, and the pressure of upcoming exams can cast a shadow over their eagerness for new beginnings.
