A Love That Can’t Be Explained

We love hearing about the experiences of our trip participants.  Lindsey Allen from Little Brasstown Church in North Carolina recently went on her 2nd 410 Bridge trip to Kandaria, Kenya and shares a bit from her journey below…

A little while back, I went on my second trip to Africa. We have had the privilege of spending time with the people of Kandaria, Kenya. When we were first reunited with the community, they made us feel like we had never left.  The singing and dancing began as laughter and tears filled the air. Our week consisted of visiting two primary schools and working on renovations.  I had the pleasure of working with the children most of the week. What a blessing! Could they have done the work without us? Yes! They are most definitely warriors.  However, coming along side of them forms a connection that can never be broken.

Many often ask..what was your mission, what were your intentions. We intended to minister and to love, however, we return as the students. We learned more than we ever intended to teach. We experienced a love that can’t be explained. And we return with moments that we will never forget. I will forever be connected to the people of Kandaria, Kenya and I will never forget the lessons they have taught me and the love they have shown me.

New Year: Next Level Ministry

A New Year frequently evokes a multitude of emotions, deeply influenced by various reasons based on the season of life one is at. For many, it symbolizes a rejuvenating fresh start—a precious opportunity to release the burdens of the past and embrace the future brimming with hope. This transition evokes excitement, particularly for school-age children returning to the classroom after a long break from school in November and December here in Kenya. While children are thrilled to reunite with their classmates and dive back into the classroom environment, they may also grapple with a sense of déjà vu; the inevitability of returning to homework, assignments, and the pressure of upcoming exams can cast a shadow over their eagerness for new beginnings.
