We’ve been working in the Segera on a full-time basis since 2008. That may seem like a long time to some, but in the world of remote, rural, third-world community development…. it’s a blink of an eye. Progress has been slow, but steady. We’ve had a series of challenges with both the leadership and some of the residents in the area, but if you step back and look at the community of Endana, you can’t help but recognize that people’s lives are transforming both physically and spiritually.
We received the following letter this week from the Segera Pastor’s Fellowship. It was in response to a campaign to distribute Bibles into every household and an illustrated Bible to every child in the area. The program was sponsored by our friends at NewSpring Church (S.C.) and was a huge success on both sides of the bridge. Newspring placed hand-written notes into the bibles that was distributed. Notes of encouragement… notes of love… notes from fellow believers halfway around the planet.
Our goal is to do the same program in every 410 Bridge community over the next 12-18 months.
Special thanks to both Newspring Church and Brazos Pointe Fellowship (Community Partners) for using their gifts to administer God’s grace to the people in the Segera area. We hope you enjoy the letter below as much as we did.
